Risk Control Strategies Inc. (RCS) was pleased to
announce the formation of the RCS Alzheimer's Foundation, a 501c 3 non profit
in 2007. This foundation is dedicated to the memory of Michael Viollis and
Robert 'Bob' Kane. RCS co-founders, Doug Kane and Paul Viollis felt compelled
to join the fight against Alzheimer's after witnessing, first hand, the
horrific effects that this disease has on its victims and their loved ones. Our
intent in creating the RCS Alzheimer's Foundation is straightforward. That is
to generate revenue through various forms of fundraising, each year, and donate
100% of the proceeds to Alzheimer's research.
After the death of Dr. Viollis’ Mother in 1995, his Father came to live with
him. In early 2000, he started to show signs of phase one Alzheimer's which
began the downward spiral leading to his bodily functions shutting down in
November 01. He discovered his father on the bathroom floor, after his
prostate ruptured, looking up at him with a face that is forever carved in his
mind. After surgery he was sent to a long term care facility where he remained
until his death on February 8, 2003, with Paul at his side.
Bob Kane was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2004. After surgery in 2005 the
disease progressed rapidly to advanced stages and for the most part erasing any
memory of his family or friends. Some of the toughest days of your life are
looking into the eyes of your father and only getting a blank stare in return
with no sense of acknowledgement or understanding of your conversations. Bob,
while still residing with Doug's Mom, Marilyn, equally became a victim of this
terrible disease as his caregiver. After a short stay in a nursing home, Doug
was at his father’s side when he passed on September 24, 2007.
It is with this commitment and compassion to all Alzheimer's victims RCS has
joined this fight against Alzheimer's by providing funding for research
projects with ongoing financial support.
We recognize all the blessings we have received in our lives as well as the
hard lessons learned experiencing this disease first hand. This is why we stand
committed to battling this disease through our ongoing fundraising efforts to assist
the research community in finding the cure to eradicate this dreadful disease.
If you, your corporation or any other interested party should be so inclined to
extend a donation to the Foundation, please direct that contribution to the RCS
Alzheimer’s Foundation at 111 John St. Ste 1250, NY, NY10038.

In Deepest Gratitude,
